Tamarack Waldorf School has been in its current location on Milwaukee’s vibrant East Side since 2001. It is situated within walking distance of many nature settings in an urban landscape, such as the Milwaukee River, Lake Michigan, parks, playgrounds, and museums. Milwaukee is rich in its cultural heritage and diversity celebrating it with many festivals and celebrations that take place throughout the year and city. As part of the Great Lakes Region, we are fortunate to have four distinct seasons of the year, with plenty of activities that take place to celebrate the changes of season. Our campus is in an urban setting and housed in a historic school building with beautiful windows that allow for an abundance of natural light.
Now in our 29th year, Tamarack Waldorf School is a full member school of AWSNA and WECAN, encompassing early childhood through Grade 8, with an enrollment of more than 200 students. Our culturally, economically, and racially diverse student body from throughout the Milwaukee region is guided through the full complement of Waldorf Education by Tamarack’s well-trained, innovative, and long-serving faculty and staff. Our faculty is committed to continuous growth and improvement, and our pedagogy is strongly rooted in Anthroposophy.

Early Childhood Assistant
Tamarack Waldorf School is currently seeking part-time Kindergarten Assistants for the 2025-2026 school year. The qualified candidates must have a love for the work and play of children and demonstrate care and patience for children ages 4-7. Lifeways or Waldorf Teacher Training and a B.A. are preferred. Tamarack Waldorf School is a full member of AWSNA and WECAN, has a robust K – 8th grade enrollment of approximately 240 students, and participates in the Milwaukee Parental Choice (voucher) Program. We have a culturally, economically, and racially diverse student body from throughout the Milwaukee region and strive to meet the needs of every student. Our Early Childhood teachers are trained in many disciplines with a focus on the young child. They are innovative, professional, and will guide their assistants through a deeper understanding of the curriculum. Tamarack faculty and students are fortunate the school is within walking distance of many nature settings in an urban landscape, such as the Milwaukee River and Lake Michigan. Candidates must have a love for outdoors and a passion for exploration of the neighborhood. Kindergarten assistants may be required to walk two miles or more in a day, in all weather, and on varied terrain.

We have a culturally, economically, and racially diverse student body from throughout the Milwaukee region and strive to meet the needs of every student. Our teachers are trained in many disciplines with a focus on healthy child development. They are innovative, professional, and will guide their assistants through a deeper understanding of the curriculum.
